Divorce & Recovery
One in two couples will get divorced. But no one ever feels that getting divorced is joining 50% of the population of couples. You feel embarrassed, ashamed, alone, and like an outcast.
After years of leading groups for newly separated and divorced men and women for the Jewish Board of Family & Children’s Services, and the Jewish Community Center, I was outraged that so many men and women traumatized by the loss of a partner, became further traumatized by the divorce process. When a marriage/relationship ends, people experience the full spectrum of emotions. Many become depressed. Some have nightmares, and intrusive and persistent thoughts about the divorce, symptoms similar to those of Post Traumatic Stress.
I felt compelled to do something to improve the experience. I decided to work with couples in crisis, then to become a Mediator, and finally to train in Collaborative Divorce as a Divorce Coach and Divorce Consultant.
Divorce Consultant
The process you choose to divorce, is possibly the most important decision you will make. I help couples explore their options and make the best choices for their particular situation.
The process you choose will impact the course of your future. Yet, so many times, this decision is made under extreme stress and pressure and people are uninformed about their various legal options. There are currently four methods to divorced in New York State: litigation, collaborative divorce, mediation and self-filed agreements. As a divorce consultant, I help couples choose the best method for themselves and their family.
